It's Bees Knees Week Everywhere You Enjoy Barr Hill Gin!
Sep 20, 2021 03:33PM ● By John GalesBarr Hill Gin is our ode to the hardworking bees of the Northeast. Each year we honor the bees with a weeklong celebration called Bee’s Knees Week. You can help us protect the bees just by enjoying a delicious cocktail and sharing it online. Bee’s Knees Week brings together a passionate community of cocktail enthusiasts and environmental stewards in an effort to spread awareness of the importance of bees in our food and drink systems while restoring pollinator friendly habitat.
Pollinator habitat is a stretch of land deliberately planted and protected with a diversity of flowering native plant species for bee food and nesting sites to harness bee life. Nectar and pollen provide the majority of bees’ diet and nutrition. One of the best ways we can help support bees and other pollinators is by creating these healthy, nectar rich environments for them to flourish in.
To join us in celebrating Bee’s Knees Week, all you have to do is enjoy a Bee’s Knees cocktail and share a photo of it online. For every photo shared on social media using the hashtag #beeskneesweek and tagging @barrhillgin between September 24 through October 3rd, Barr Hill will plant 10 square feet of pollinator habitat.
2021 marks our 5th annual celebration of Bee’s Knees Week. Last year we saw over 7,400 #beeskneesweek posts on social media, helping to create over 74,000 square feet of new pollinator habitat. We’ve seen up to an 1100% increase in pollinator presence in restored habitat areas!
This year we’ve set an ambitious goal, we’re aiming to plant 500,000 square feet of new pollinator habitat with the help of our friends and fans.
